Maine Coon kittens, often referred to as the “gentle giants” of the cat world, boast a distinctive appearance and a friendly temperament that make them a beloved breed across the globe, including here in Illinois. Originating from the state of Maine, which is also their official state cat, these cats are one of the oldest natural breeds in North America and are noted for their large size, robust health, and sociable nature.
Physical Characteristics
Maine Coons are easily identified by their large, tufted ears, bushy tails, and muscular bodies. They display a wide range of colors and patterns, from solids to tabbies and everything in between. One remarkable feature is their eyes, large and expressive, which add to their wise, friendly demeanor. Adult males can weigh between 13 to 18 pounds, while females typically range from 8 to 12 pounds, making them one of the largest domesticated cat breeds.
Temperament and Behavior
These kittens are renowned for their intelligence and playful, yet laid-back personality. They integrate well into many households and get along well with children and other animals. Maine Coons are curious and enjoy interactive toys and games which also serve as mental and physical stimulation. Despite their size, they are known for their gentle temperament and are often referred to as having “dog-like” characteristics.
Care and Grooming
Despite their thick fur, Maine Coon cats are surprisingly easy to groom due to their coat’s silky texture, which is less prone to matting. Regular brushing, a couple of times a week, helps to keep their coat in good condition and minimizes shedding. It’s important to pay attention to their diet, as their larger size requires a well-balanced diet to maintain healthy weight and overall well-being.
Embracing a Maine Coon into your home here in Illinois means committing to an enriching companion who’ll bring warmth, affection, and lively interaction to your family dynamic. Whether you’re an experienced cat owner or considering your first kitten, their majestic presence and sociable nature make Maine Coons a wonderful pet choice.
I’m delighted to share a bit about us at Kitty Land, where our passion for Maine Coon kittens drives everything we do. Operating under the highest standards, we partner exclusively with top-notch European catteries registered by WCF International. This ensures that every kitten, especially our beloved Maine Coon kittens, comes from a lineage of champions displayed in WCF and TICA exhibitions.
Our rigorous health protocols mean all parental cats undergo extensive health screening tests, including ultrasound checks for inherited conditions like PKD and HCM. They’re also tested for viral diseases such as FIV and FeLV in licensed labs. On top of this, genetic tests are available upon request to ensure you’re adopting a healthy, happy kitten.
It’s vital to us that our kittens grow up in a loving, cage-free environment. This not only nurtures their social skills but also enhances their inherent affectionate nature, something Maine Coons are renowned for. With their playful yet laid-back demeanor, they integrate seamlessly into households, enriching lives with joy and companionship.
Moreover, I ensure that every Maine Coon kitten leaving Kitty Land is vaccinated against common feline diseases and is microchipped for their safety and your peace of mind. Since Maine Coons are known for their ‘dog-like’ traits, including loyalty and trainability, they make fantastic, loving additions to any family, fitting well with both children and other pets.

We offer four shipping options for your convenience:
We offer a Word Cat Federation (WCF) pedigree for our cats. If you prefer, your kitty can be spayed/neutered upon your request. Additionally, we offer the option to purchase a kitty with breeding rights. If you have any additional requests or questions, please let us know
To reserve a kitten, you’ll need to pay a deposit of either $400 or $500. This will hold the kitten for you and prevent it from being sold to anyone else. Unfortunately, the deposit is non-refundable and cannot be transferred to another kitten. This is because the breeder needs the deposit to keep the kitten for you.
If you need to change the kitten you’ve chosen, exceptions can be made only if both the original and new kitten are from the same breeder, the kitten is not yet spayed, and the purebred certificate hasn’t been issued under your name.
The final payment is due on the day your kitten arrives at their new home, and can be made through PayPal, WISE, or cash. If you have any questions or concerns about payment, please feel free to contact us.
Spaying kittens at a young age has several benefits, including reducing the risk of certain health issues, easier recovery from surgery, population control, and behavioral benefits. Early spaying is generally considered safe and can be done as early as 8-16 weeks old. It helps prevent unwanted litters and behaviors associated with a cat’s heat cycle.
