The gene responsible for the folded ears is linked to a condition called Osteochondrodysplasia (OCD), which affects cartilage and bone. As dedicated guardians of this breed, our entire program is designed to protect the health of our cats. We strictly adhere to the only globally accepted ethical practice: never breeding two folded-ear cats together.

All of our Fold kittens are the result of a folded-ear parent being carefully bred to a straight-eared partner (a Scottish Straight or a health-tested British Shorthair). This is the only responsible way to breed Scottish Folds.

Because of our ethical breeding practices, our litters include kittens with both folded and straight ears. Both are purebred and share the same wonderful personality.

Scottish Fold Kittens (Folded Ears)

These kittens inherit the dominant gene for the adorable folded ears that give the breed its name.

Scottish Straight Kittens (Straight Ears)

Born in the exact same litters, these kittens do not inherit the fold gene. They have the same sweet personality, robust health, and charming looks but with upright ears. Scottish Straights are absolutely essential to the health of the breed and make equally fantastic, loving pets.
